The American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) has named two 2020 ASTRO Gold Medalists: Bruce Haffty, MD, FASTRO, (pictured right, top) Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, and Brian O'Sullivan, MD, FASTRO, (pictured right, bottom) Princess Margaret Hospital, University of Toronto.
The Gold Medal is ASTRO's highest honor bestowed on revered members who have made outstanding contributions to the field of radiation oncology. This includes research, clinical care, teaching and service. Recipients are drawn from any of the scientific disciplines represented by the members of the Society.
The Gold Medals will be awarded in October during a virtual Awards Ceremony at ASTRO's 62nd Annual Meeting. The Gold Medalists will also be recognized at next year’s meeting in Chicago.
